Transfer

UX/UI Design
Project Overview
Transfer seeks to make various basic banking services accessible to millions of people who do not have a formal relationship with the financial system. It offers the evolution towards digital commerce where users move towards a banked economy
My Contributions
Role: Product Designer

Provided the end to end redesign of the app and capacitate the design team to create the base of a design system for the new app. Viewing the product 360º allowed me to create a new package and delivery experience for the physical card.

We started accepting the Citibanamex challenge to redesign initially the Home of the app with the vision of a Super app available to place products of the Telcel & Claro family. Initially, we realized (with heuristic evaluation) that core functions were not clearly outlined and prioritized causing users to be unable to complete tasks without assistance, so the first task was to categorize and prioritize based on the data to display them in the best way.

Then came the twist, after some interviews and tests, we realized that a change of focus was needed to be successful on the project so our first step was to get the app back to its beginnings: financial inclusion and with that to remake the user personas to know exactly who were we designing for.

The challenge

After knowing the users' needs by their banking level we took the data to make first decisions and explorations to prototype and test quick iterations multiple times.

We prioritized the functions that were making noise and started categorizing and cleaning the Home screen, every change was tested on guerrillas testing reaching up to 5 iterations and testings on one day and usability testings every milestone reached.

The process

Leaving the app with the main functionalities at first sight and one-shot for the eyes brought to the project a huge topic in Mexico's financial context: CoDi, an initiative from the Bank of Mexico to bank informal business and facilitate payment and collection transactions through a QR code. With that in mind and looking at the main users of the app (informal business) CoDi was a highlight to display like the main character.

Considerations: the context and environment of the user. The majority stands on the street on direct sunlight.

The cleaning

With the main screens designed and tested it was time to move on to the rest of the flows maintaining the cleaning principle we already established (step by step). One of these flows was creating an onboarding for this particular group that needed a guided intro to the app. The rest of the app included: Transfers, Payments, Profiles withdrawal, Profile, among ohters.

The whole house

The 360º view included the design and delivery of the physical card. At first, a user was requested to buy the card first or visit a branch after the opening of the digital account so the logistics of delivering and activating the card was on the sight. Landor and MasterCard worked with us to create the new card and its packaging.
